#1 NICE MOVE (3-1) is a limited 4 yr old filly that I’ve opposed in all three of her recent starts over 1600m. By Visionaire out of a Western Winter mare, that trip has looked to stretch her stamina. I’ve been waiting for her to drop back in trip which she does here and she gets a great draw too. I was really hoping she would meet a weak field, where I could put my head down and have a go on her, but she meets some opposition with decent ability and that has tempered my enthusiasm quite a lot. Blinkers go on too, which I’m not convinced are required, so although I will go for her it will be for small stakes only.
Little separated the 3 yr old fillies #3 LADY REGENT (3-1) AND #4 MIGHTY GODDESS (7-2) on the two occasions they have met. Both have run in some strong races, so I respect their chances a lot, but the wide draws mean they’ll probably have some ground to make up on #1 up the straight and I’m hoping that #1 can hold them out.
#11 OCTOBER FAIR (6-1) has scope to improve, but she’s been off 6 months and her dam was a sprinter who’s progeny have all been sprinters to date, so will she get the 1450m?
#5 SOUTHERN STYLE (6-1) is very limited and she’s got no chance from a 12 draw either, so for me she’s not in the race and I’M AGAINST HER.
