I’m looking to beat the top two in the market, #’s 11 and 1.
#6 TOP SAIL (8-1) hasn’t shown any progression in terms of his ratings in recent runs, but his relocation back to Gauteng could see a step up in his form now. He’s been kept to sprinting distances thus far, but he has a few siblings who’ve won over middle distances (including a full sister who’s won over 2000m) and this trip on a galloping course should see his likely stamina brought to the fore. This is not a strong field and he will go well here if he does enjoy the trip as expected, so he’s first choice.
#10 BRONZE SWORD (7-1) had King Of Rome 1L ahead of him on debut and that’s the form that #’s 1,4 and the Fav 11 bring to the race. Back on a galloping track with blinkers fitted and a step up in trip, he could improve here as he’s still unexposed.
#9 BREEZE OVER (33-1) makes his debut over 1800m, but this isn’t a strong race and I would not be surprised if he were competitive.
#1 BIG GUY (7-2) is holding his form, but he is limited.
#11 OTTO LUYKEN (15-10) was fancied on debut despite his 16-1 SP and last time he was strongly supported into Fav. He didn’t show any improvement from his first run, so whilst he is still unexposed, I don’t see how on earth he can be a 15-10 shot here and I’M AGAINST HIM.
SELECTION: 6-10
RESULT: 11-7-4-6
