The spur being at just 2m means that small draws hold sway in races up to 1600m.
#11 TRIDENT KING (12-1) always had the race under control from his 1 draw last time. That was a weak maiden handicap, but he did carry top weight and in terms of ratings that was a much improved run after a change of stables. I think he’s nicely in here as a 4 yr old with a MR of 70, so from a good draw I think he can follow up and he’s first choice.
#12 HOUSTON (7-1) had no chance at the weights in a Progress Plate for good 3 yr olds last time. He’s very much still unexposed and with 53kgs he looks competitive here.
