#10 FAR AWAY WINTER (15-10) has impressed me in his last two starts when I wasn’t convinced he was the right horse. He was tenacious in victory on both occasions and he has a very progressive profile. 3 yr olds ran 1st and 2nd in this race last year and the winner Alesian Chief had a rating of 101 when winning by 3L, so as the sole 3 yr old here this Fav could definitely be competitive off his mark of 102. He has all the right credentials, the main concern is whether his 1 draw up this straight will negate his chances. He’s the one to beat, but the draw has to be a concern.
My problem here is I don’t actually fancy anything beyond the Fav, so if his draw does catch him out I don’t know what to like.
SELECTION: 10, but assess draws in races 1 and 2 to see what affect the draw may have.
UPDATE: It certainly appears as if the low draws are disadvantaged up the straight, so I’ve added a few horses to my tote bets to cover the 10. #’s 1,3,6 and 11
RESULT: 1-11-9-3
