I’m not getting involved at Kenilworth today. These cards have been tough to win on as a punter and until the season winds down, I’m going to just go very slow.
K2: #7 Sharapova is the obvious one and does look hard to oppose, but I’m not backing her at this price (5-10).
K3: Clearly quite a few have a chance here, but #6 Master Josh was very unlucky last time as he found major interference in the running and yet still nearly won. I liked him the time before, but I think they raced him too handy and he never went through with the run. I expect the stable to drop him in again and he’ll finish the race off strongly. I can’t take 2-1 about him, but for me one either bankers here or you have to take quite a few.
K7: #11 At My Command is clearly the best horse in the race, but he gives 6kgs to the field and still has to prove he gets the trip. 8-10 also puts him completely out of reach and I’d rather be AGAINST HIM him than backing him, but I’m not getting involved. #10 ROCKPOOL has a great turn-of-foot and he is on the up. He is by Futura so the trip will probably be okay. #7 NARINA TROGON is one I’ve been waiting for them to step up in trip, but I’m not convinced this is the right race for him, he may be a bit outclassed. He could be the upset though.
I don’t have enough opinion in the other races to really get involved in tote exotics today.
My main play this weekend is T2 Cape Lights. At 1st glance she may look a bit brassy, but she’s come up against horses with ability in all of her races and quite a few have subsequently won multiple races. 1600m looks an ideal trip for her and I make her an odds on shot against what amounts to weak opposition, so at 14-10/15-10 I’ve had a decent bet. Shorter now at 11-10, but for me she is the best play of the weekend.
RESULT: WON SP 4-10
